Norfolk status
Widespread.
Adults fly in June and July and can sometimes be seen resting on tree trunks and garden fences.

The enormous green caterpillars feed mainly on wild privet, but also on lilac, holly and ash, and appear in July and August.

Recorded in 64 (93%) of 69 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1834.
Last Recorded in 2012.
