Fens, heathland, woodland, scrub, grassland.
Several of the Eilema species can be difficult to tell apart, but this moth has broader, more rounded forewings than many of the others.
Also straw yellow form, (f. straminola) known from Britain only.

First Recorded in 1834.
Last Recorded in 2012.
