Coastal saltmarshes.
One of the larger 'sharks'.
Well recorded in recent years where it occurs.

Diagnostic faint oval and kidney markings on the forewing are not found on the similar and more common Mullein moth.
Star-wort also has a later flight time (Jun-Aug) than Mullein (Apr-May).

Recorded in 18 (26%) of 69 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1889.
Last Recorded in 2012.
