Widespread.
Orange head, deep purple-brown forewing darker beyond the middle.
Leaf-mine: Sept and Oct.
Mine initially narrow with linear frass becoming wider with red frass. Mine often confused with S. crataegellaRecorded in 27 (39%) of 69 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1874.
