Norfolk status
Usually much larger than the other two UK species of Endothenia but some small specimens do occur and can cause problems. E. gentianaeana usually shows more violet or greyish areas to the tornal and basal areas of the forewing but these markings can vary considerably, especially the extent of white in the basal area and in the black spots present. An inconspicous white discocellular spot present on the outer margin of the median fascia (this can be hard to discern depending on the amount of markings around it) subterminal fascia weakly violet with several scattered small black dots.

Rough uncultivated ground, waysides, embankments and similar situations where common teasel grows.
Only a handful of Norfolk records from Attleborough 1994; Hethersett 1998; Easton 2000; Snettisham 2001; Sheringham 2006.

Recorded in 11 (16%) of 69 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1960.
Last Recorded in 2014.
