Norfolk status Flies during the day and at night. Often confused with Pyrausta aurata. Arrangement of the postmedian markings on the forewing can form a continuous broad band, but is often broken into three. Examination of underside and hindwing required for positive identification.
Thought that P. purpuralis is being over recorded in Norfolk.
