Difficult to distinguish from the recently separated C. robustella.

The flight period is from May to July.

If uncertain, please record as the aggregate Caloptilia alchimiella/robustella

Determination by Genitalia Examination (gen. det.) Required

Leaf-mine: July - Oct.
Narrow gallery leading to a squarish or triangular blotch. Then forms up to three successive cones by folding the lobe of a leaf downwards.
Note: You cannot separate these from C. robustella unless you examine the pupa or breed out.
