Nationally Scarce (Na) on chalk downland and heathland in south-central England.
The larvae feed mainly on Buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) and Alder Buckthorn (Frangula alnus) The larval case initially resembles that of C. violacea and C. potentillae. In the Autumn the case is enlarged by adding pieces of excised lower leaf epidermis (see photos)
