One of several similar 'Thorns'.
Woodland, parkland, hedgerows, scrub and gardens

Very similar to September Thorn, both species fly in August. August Thorn has white "socks" on each leg, and a flat resting posture, which help separate it from the similar September Thorn. (September Thorn rests with wings raised)
