Norfolk status
Local, mainly in the Brecks.
Heathland, coastal and other grasslands, fen, open woodland, scrub.
The males fly in the afternoon, females tend to fly only at night.

The distinctive black/brown and tan very hairy caterpillars often occur in great profusion in the Autumn. Early instar larvae have distinct yellow rings.
