Norfolk status Uncertain. Occurring locally in the southern half of England.
Identification can be made by differences in the male antennae, which are finely serrated in Orange Underwing and slightly feathered in Light Orange Underwing. The underside of the hindwing of Orange Underwing shows an orange band that projects centrally into a dark outer band, often reaching outer margin. Light Orange Underwing shows a dark outer band that is is unbroken, and the central projection of the orange band is absent. (MBGBI Vol 7 part 2)
