Norfolk status
Spruce plantations other coniferous woodland, heathland, grassland and gardens.
Can be hard to distinguish from Grey Pine Carpet, but is usually a bolder, better
marked insect and generally greyer in appearance than Grey Pine. Normally appears more variegated with the median band more fluted and normally edged narrowly with white.

Found throughout the British Isles, less common in Scotland and Ireland. Adult moths fly in two generations and come to light often in large numbers. The larvae feed on many coniferous trees, but mainly Norway Spruce, Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock, but also Scots Pine, Douglas Fir and Lawson's Cypress.
