Broad-leaved woodland, parkland, grassland, heathland, fens, scrub, hedgerows and gardens.

Chestnut ground colour and several blackish marks on the leading edge of the forewing.

Like many Autumnal species, feeds at Ivy flowers and overripe blackberries.
