Status
Local in Norfolk, can often be found wherever old bee-hives are situated.
Considered a pest by most bee-keepers, modern bee-keeping practices keep numbers down.
Note characteristic yellow head.
The larvae feed on the wax of old honeycombs and are also known to feed on dried fruit and dead insects.Recorded in 40 (54%) of 74 10k Squares.
