Widespread records in recent years.
Unlike other Ephestia, occurs out-of-doors.

Formerly named Ephestia unicolorella and Ephestia parasitella spp. unicolorella (Staudinger, 1881, 1859) In recent European taxonomy (Leraut 2014) this species has been split into three, with unicolorella listed as a distinct species known only from Turkey and Spain. Renamed woodiella in 2019 UK checklist update.

One of six very similar species of Ephestia found in the UK, which are generally separable only by dissection of the genitalia.
Most wild-caught individuals are usually E. woodiella, with the other five species favouring warehouses.

Dissected records from Wheatfen. Scole, Leziate and several widespread records in recent years.
