Status Very similar, but much more common than Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet. (see next species for info)
Can be separated by the underside of the forewing, Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet being uniform grey with little contrast. Red Twin-spot Carpet shows a contrasting pattern with deep ginger colouration towards the apex of the underside.
Red Twin-spot Carpet also has a dark banded form, leading to confusion with Dark-barred Twin-spot Carpet. Determination by dissection of the genitalia may be required.Recorded in 66 (89%) of 74 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1886. Last Recorded in 2024. Additional Stats |
