Early species.
Open woodland areas, scrub and hedgerows .
Females are almost wingless.
The male moths can be spotted with a torch, usually clinging to the tips of outer branches of hawthorn or blackthorn hedgerows in January and February.Recorded in 52 (75%) of 69 10k Squares.
