Well distributed throughout the British Isles, abundant in conifer plantations.
The green form (f. prasinaria) is rare, being recorded mainly in East Anglia including Kent and Suffolk, and could be confused with Campaea margaritata (Light Emerald), although fasciaria lacks the pointed hindwing and straighter fascia of that species. The grey-brown form (f. grisearia) is found frequently in the Midlands, northern England and parts of Scotland.
