Status Widespread woodland species.
Heavily marked examples can be determined (with care) from appearance, otherwise Gen. Det. is required. Note orange/brown scale colouration, and central dark costal mark that slightly narrows, often joining a smaller lateral mark.
Adults fly in morning sunshine and in late afternoon or dusk. The larvae feed mainly on stored vegetable products and types of bracket fungus, especially common on Piptoporus betulinus.Recorded in 54 (73%) of 74 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1874. Last Recorded in 2023. |
