Rare.
Modern-day Norfolk records only known from the King's Lynn area of West Norfolk at Roydon Common, and since 2000, at Dersingham Bog NNR.
Found mainly in Northern England, this is a species of acid moorland and damp heathland. Its nearest occurrence to Norfolk is the Staffordshire moorlands!
Adult moths can be found resting exposed on fenceposts and rocks by day. At night they will come to light.
Two larvae taken in the broads pre 1874, one of which was reared. C. Barrett (Trans. 1874) "The moth is unquestionably this species. Had i not seen it I should have felt great doubt of the propriety of including this northern species in the Norfolk list."  | Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required. | |
