Status Locally common. Separated from Monopis crocicapitella in 1893, and not clearly characterized until 1912.
Smaller than the similar Monopis crocicapitella, golden orange / yellow dorsal streak on forewing, less peppering, more distinctive markings and darker ground colour with dark hindwing not pale grey as on M. crocicapitella.
Larvae feed on woollen materials in outbuildings or out of doors and less often in birds' nests or birds of prey pellets.Recorded in 45 (61%) of 74 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1987. Last Recorded in 2023. |
