Status Widespread. Two striking brassy metallic bands on forewing. Typically these two bands are separated, however the form tutti has the two vertical brassy bands on the forewing joined forming an H-shape.
Fused Burnished Brass Diachrysia stenochrysis A controversial species which also has the two vertical brassy bands on the forewing joined forming a “H-shape”. It is suggested that the join needs to be at least 3 millimetres wide for it to be considered D stenochrysis. The species cannot be reliably distinguished externally, differences in genitalia are extremely slight and DNA bar-coding remains inconclusive.
Please note: Diachrysia stenochrysis has not yet been included in the British list.Recorded in 67 (91%) of 74 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1834. Last Recorded in 2023. |
