Status First recorded in Norfolk 2005. Fairly frequent with several spring records per year.
Caloptilia falconipennella is seasonally dimorphic, with spring and summer forms. The summer form has a sharply defined yellow costal blotch and is apparently rare in Norfolk, with very few records. This is faint or absent from the spring form, except for the oblique front edge defining a darker basal area.
The summer form with yellow costal blotch is very similar to other early spring species, Caloptilia hemidactylella and C. honoratella and will need examination to confirm.
Nationally scarce (Nb) in marshes, river-banks, ditches and other damp areas throughout Britain.
