Norfolk Status
Local.
Diagnostic angled light streak starting at the leading edge of the forewing.

Leaf-mine: June-July
gallery leading to a squarish blotch, later forming up to 3 leaf tubes/cones.

Please Note: The rare C. hemidactylella (Recorded in Suffolk, not yet recorded in Norfolk) can only be separated as mines from C. semifascia by rearing through.

On Sycamore, the feeding signs can also be confused with those of C. rufipennella and will need rearing to confirm.

C hauderi (Not yet recorded in Norfolk) is now regarded as the first brood of double-brooded populations of Caloptilia semifascia in the UK (Langmaid et al. 2011. Nota Lepidopterologica 33, 191-197).

Scattered VC27 records. First confirmed VC28 record in 2013 when cones were collected on Silver Maple at Lynford Arboretum and bred through. This is thought to be a new foodplant record for this species. (I. Barton, K. Rosewarne)
