Shingle beaches, sandy areas, usually on the coast.
Creamy-yellow head and three silver bands across the forewing on nominate form.(form f. tarquiniella only a single silver fascia)

Local but well recorded in recent years.

Several larvae found at Winterton-on-Sea amongst the moss -
Dicranum scoparium in 2014 (B. Heckford, S. Beavan, 14/05/14)
