Status Locally widespread in Norfolk, especially West Norfolk fenland, with several records in recent years.
Occurring in chalk and limestone rough grassland, scrub and coastal habitats.
Resembles Cochylichroa atricapitana and Neocochylis dubitana, separated from those species by the white thorax.
Larvae feed in the seedheads of Bristly Oxtongue, Hawkweed Oxtongue and several species of Hawk's-beard.Recorded in 52 (70%) of 74 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1874. Last Recorded in 2023. |
