Status A highly variable species, displaying many recurring forms. Males can usually be identified by the sharply defined colour boundary on the forewings, while females are generally larger.
This species was accidentally introduced into Cornwall from Australia where it is an alleged pest of Apple trees during the 1930s and has continued to expand its range since.
