Extremely variable species with numerous recurring forms.
Male usually distinguished by abrupt colour division of the forewing.
Female larger.
Recent Australian arrival accidentally introduced into Cornwall in the 1930's, still expanding its range.Recorded in 63 (85%) of 74 10k Squares.
