Norfolk status The sandy-ochreous cream colouration and a lack of any greyish tones in the distal (outer part) part of the forewing is diagnostic and should rule other similar species.
A fairly common species in gardens, woodlands and hedgerows in southern England and Wales, becoming scarcer further north.
Note: In photographing this species, depending on the lighting and the camera settings, the ochreous tones can easily be washed out leading to confusion.
