Endothenia ustulana
Bugle Marble

(Haworth, 1811)1101 / 49.190
Norfolk status
Nationally scarce (Nb) inhabiting damp woodland and waste ground mainly in the south and south-east of England.

Adult moths active by day in afternoon sunshine.

Confirmed Norfolk record at Repps-with-Bastwick in 2014 (S. Wright, 18/07/14)

Victorian records are thoroughly confused and list as Sericoris fuligana 'Recorded by Stephens' with no locality, although Barrett notes: possibly in error for Penthina carbonana. Dbl (fuligana. Hub) [E. pullana]?
Barrett later notes that Wood's figure of fuligana which he records in Norfolk seems to represent Sericoris cespitana. [Celypha cespitana]

Historic distribution maps also show an unknown VC28 reference, although they show no reference for E. pullana!

Determination by Genitalia Examination (gen. det.) Required

Recorded in 4 (6%) of 69 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2014.
Last Recorded in 2019.
