Scarce species found mainly in the south, with larvae that feed on Apple and Bird Cherry, living within a spun or rolled leaf.
Similar to Eudemis profundana with a protruding scale tuft, but lacks the clear white dorsal patch and orange/brown thorax usually found in E. profundana.
Previously thought to be new to Norfolk in 2022 based on a record from Litcham (K. Kerr, 23/07/2022), recent investigations have revealed earlier records from the Brecks dating back to 2018 (S. Youngs, 20/06/2018).
Recent surveys in the Brecks have found this species to be abundant around old Crab Apple trees, suggesting it may be a long-overlooked resident.
Larvae have also recently been found and successfully reared on Bird Cherry.
First recorded in Suffolk during 2019.
