Norfolk status
Uncertain.

Originally regarded as a distinct species in 1914, however it was treated as a greyish form of E. nisella (f. cinereana) from 1972 up until 2012.
Currently regarded as a distinct species.

Lacks the black and reddish blotches on the forewing to similar Epinotia nisella, giving an overall greyish impression. Please note in rare instances Epinotia nisella can appear greyish like E. cinereana, and would require examination of the genitalia for separation.
