Norfolk status
Larger than Notocelia trimaculana and with finer, more oblique costal strigulae (i.e the small black dashes along the leading edge of the forewing are finer and more numerous than in N. trimaculana and roborana.)
Specimens may require genitalia examination to confirm. We believe most Norfolk records are misidentifications.

Common on chalk downs, open woodland, thickets, hedgerows and gardens throughout much of Britain.
Locally uncommon in Norfolk with recent records from Beeston Regis 2000; Stoke Holy Cross 2001-2003; Lopham 2003; Sheringham 2006-2008; Dersingham 2007-2010 and Overstrand & Hindolveston in 2014.
First listed as "Generally in gardens on roses" by Barrett in 1874.
