Norfolk status

Similar to Epiblema cirsiana formerly treated as conspecific, now split.

Male shows a larger area of white on the forewing and pale hindwing and is generally larger and lighter in coloration, separating it from the male E. cirsiana which is smaller and has a darker hindwing. Female requires a gen. det. for confirmation.

Fairly common throughout the British Isles. Found on uncultivated ground, rough meadows, hillsides, coastal cliffs and open woodland, often preferring damp or marshy ground where Musk Thistle and Spear Thistle grow.
