D. dilutella has now been split, and has a sister species D. inscriptella. Differences in the genitalia of both sexes were detected by Leraut (2001) and the species added to the British list in 2015 (D. Agassiz, Ent. Rec.127)
D. inscriptella is more variable than D. dilutella, ground colour dull brown rather than grey, normally lacking a white sub-basal fascia.
UK Distribution is unknown until more specimens have been determined. It is thought that D. dilutella Is not present in Norfolk.
