Norfolk status
Locally widespread.

D. dilutella has now been split, and has a sister species D. inscriptella. Differences in the genitalia of both sexes were detected by Leraut (2001) and the species added to the British list in 2015 (D. Agassiz, Ent. Rec.127)

Dissected specimens of dilutella/inscriptella in Norfolk have so far all been inscriptella.

There are historical records of and records from the 1990s onwards listed in Norfolk under dilutella. However, we are unable to determine to species without genitalia examination, which is simply not possible without retained specimens.

D. inscriptella is said to be more variable than D. dilutella, ground colour dull brown rather than grey, normally lacking a white sub-basal fascia.

UK Distribution is unknown until more specimens have been determined. It is currently thought that D. dilutella is not present in Norfolk.
