Very similar to other species in the group, in particular N. cloacella

Larvae feed on grain and other stored vegetable products indoors, as well as various bracket fungi out of doors.

Recently recorded on Piptoporus betulinus - Razor-strop Fungus (an extremely common fungus on Silver Birch trees), collected from Selbrigg Pond, Norfolk, Jan 2008. Hatched Sept 2008. M.Ottley J.Welton.
