Rare, possibly overlooked.

Very similar to N. cloacella, slightly larger with distinctive pale reddish brown subapical area and whitish irregular postmedian spot.

Records confused with N. cloacella until clearly separated by Pierce & Metcalfe (1934)

Records from Great Ellingham (Knott, 2009) Hindolveston (Clifton, 2010)

Feeds on various bracket fungi, including Razorstrop Fungus, a widespread resident on birch trees.
