Flies during the daytime.
Separated from P. myllerana in 1936. Subtle differences separate the two species and include the area of white/silver dusting, which extends more than half way across the forewing and pale fascia beyond the postmedian line and silvery dusting in P. sehestediana.

Old records are uncertain as confusion with P. myllerana, species split in 1936.
