Norfolk status
Rare.
Locally found in the Broads, very well recorded in recent years at known sites.

In August 2023 several cases found at a site in West Norfolk (New VC28)

The first British specimen was taken at Hickling, 7th July 1974, but only identified in 1979. (D. Agassiz) The species was added to the British list by T. Peet from a series taken in July 1975 from the same locality. Ent. Nat. Hist. Soc. 1979.

Coleophora hydrolapathella is only known from the Norfolk Broads, some Suffolk coastal marshes and Co. Durham.

The larvae feed from a reddish brown tubular case made entirely of silk on flowers and seeds of Water Dock (Rumex hydrolapathum)

In 2024 found feeding on Curled Dock (Rumex crispus) at coastal sites in Suffolk.
