The larvae feed on Sea Beet (Beta maritima). Recent records show it to be abundant in agricultural areas of Norfolk where it feeds on cultivated forms of Beet and other plants. In Europe it has been reported as a pest species.
Verification Grade Comment: National Grade 4 - Caution is suggested and if there is any doubt, dissection is required. Coastal records will need dissecting to separate from similar species.
