Batrachedra pinicolella has now been split (2022) into Batrachedra pinicolella and Batrachedra confusella. Dissection will now be required to confirm or re-confirm all records.

B. confusella is thought to be the more common and widespread of the two species, with pinicolella probably much more localised to areas where Norway Spruce is found. It is expected that most Norfolk records will be confusella.

Confirmed Norfolk records include Stoke Holy Cross in 2022 (D. Jones) and Ludham in 2019, 2020 (M. A'Court)
