Scarce.
A fairly small species. A slight ochreous ground colour to the forewing, the black median fascia showing a rufous tinge (stronger in some populations), a distinctive black spot distad of the median fascia, being distinctive and ochreous markings in subterminal fascia.

Formerly known as Hedya dimidiana this species occurs around mosses and damp heaths, mainly in the north of England and Scotland.

Only a hand full of Norfolk records dating from 1970.

The larvae feed in the terminal shoots of Bog-myrtle, Sallow and Birch.

Recorded in 11 (15%) of 74 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1986.
Last Recorded in 2022.
