A recent colonist, being first discovered on the Isle of Wight in 1951.
Found in gardens, conifer plantations, parks and other places the foodplant can be found.

This species fluctuates but appears to be declining in Norfolk over recent years, with over 600 recorded in 2014 down to 60 in 2021.

Recorded in 59 (80%) of 74 10k Squares.
