New for Norfolk in 2020 when a large female moth with wingspan of 21mm, well outside of the stated size range, was caught in a Dereham garden by David Norgate (05/07/2020, Gen. Det. Female - D. Appleton)
One of three very similar rare Coleophora that are virtually impossible to identify without recourse to dissection, size (wingspan) should be used as a guide only: C. vibicigerella 10.5-14mm (No Norfolk records) C. conspicuella 13-17.5mm C. vibicella 17-22mm (No Norfolk records)
As the first for Norfolk example shows, size is not reliable for determination, gen. det. required.
Determination by Genitalia Examination (gen. det.) Required
Case: A good quality photo or specimen of the case and plant/pabulum is required.
Recorded in 2 (3%) of 74 10k Squares. First Recorded in 2020. Last Recorded in 2023. Additional Stats
