Occurring mainly in woodland, marshes, river-banks and freshwater margins in Middlesex, south Essex and Cambridgeshire.
Leaf-mine: Larva mines leaves of Grey Poplar Populus canescens, over-wintering as a pupa. Mines can be found in green islands in fallen leaves from October. The green islands always emanate from the petiole.
